THERAPY THAT IS CREATIVE & ANTI-OPPRESSIVE.

You feel stuck in your own growth.

You’re struggling with your self-worth, overriding your own needs, and avoiding feeling your feelings all while trying to break generational cycles.

Rage. Sadness. Numbness. Fear. Confusion. Grief. Depression.

What the fuck do you do with these and why are they here? It’s hard to take that initial step towards change, but

you do not need to do it alone.

You’re seeking support but need a therapist that takes into account your humanity and the role oppressive systems play in your physical and mental wellness.

Let’s make space for your emotions, beliefs, and patterns to be explored with curiosity and compassion.

I value the identities that are in the room (or computer screen). I’m aware of and acknowledge the many ways I am privileged by the identities I hold. I’m a white, cis, straight, able-bodied woman in a heterosexual, monogamous marriage living on unceded, stolen Lenni-Lenape territory. I’m also an Art Therapist, Licensed Professional Counselor, artist, mom of two, wife, granddaughter, and friend who values family both birth and chosen, laughing, nature, play, and creativity.

Who you are matters.

For the past ten years in Philadelphia, I’ve helped adults understand their mental health diagnoses and challenges through the lens of the complex traumas they’ve experienced and the impact of the systems they live in. Working with me means looking at symptoms with a new perspective that allows for a holistic, compassionate understanding of who you are as a whole person. This will lead to meaningful shifts in your self-esteem, identity, and in your relationships. My therapeutic approach is guided by Dr. Shawna Murray Browne’s Liberation-Focused Healing Framework, art therapy, somatic practices, trauma informed, feminist, and social justice frameworks.

Hi, I’m Lauren (she/her)

Reconnection Through Creative, Embodied, Anti-Oppressive Healing

Through our work together using creativity, curiosity, and connection, you’ll weave together the story of your life, connecting your childhood experiences to patterns in your relationships to the lived experiences of your ancestors. You’ll understand how white supremacy and oppressive systems affect your relationships, identity, and mood. Making these connections and breaking cycles of upholding these harmful systems and generational traumas are an important part of moving forward in your healing.

You’ve been labeled too sensitive, too much. Me too.

I’ve been in the caregiver or parentified role from what feels like day one. My feelings were overwhelming for others. I made myself smaller to not take up space because I prioritized everyone’s needs at the expense of my own.

Experiences like these teach us to disconnect from our feelings, devalue ourselves, and leave us without energy and motivation to heal and fight for change. I, unknowingly, was participating in upholding oppressive systems by disconnecting from my own humanity. This is by design.

Through my healing process, I became aware of how my feelings and behaviors connect to white supremacy culture and all the ‘isms’. These were not just my “individual” mental health struggles, even though it felt like that. I needed to integrate my anti-racism work with my own personal growth, which previously were two parallel paths that never crossed. We heal together through our ongoing commitment to Black Liberation and Indigenous sovereignty.

Since we’re all connected, so is our healing.
